A YORK-based chain of Bangladeshi restaurants has earned a top award from an East Yorkshire town.
The Bengal Brasserie group which has restaurants in Goodramgate, York, and in York Business Park, Poppleton, has won Restaurant Of The Year for its latest branch in Market Weighton.
The accolade was the result of a public vote in a local competition.
It comes hot on the heels of the Bengal Brasserie's Gold Award for "outstanding achievement and contribution to the pursuit of excellent food and service" by the Quality Food Online organisation.
Iqbal Chowdhury, group general manager, said: "It's good to know that the public appreciates our furthest outpost every bit as much as they enjoy our restaurants in the York district where we began seven years ago."
