FROM the beginning of manned flight there has been a very special relationship between America and Britain in matters of aeronautics.
This is what Wilbur Wright said about pioneer of flight Sir George Cayley (1773-1857): "The father of aviation: about 100 years ago an Englishman, Sir George Cayley, carried the science of flying to a point which it had never reached before and which it scarcely reached again during the last century".
Last Wednesday was the historic day which marked 100 years since the first Wright brothers' flight. We sent our congratulations to the descendants of the pioneers' family and the organisers of the centennial celebrations at Kittyhawk.
