Now that City of York council has raised the cost of a Respark permit to £84 (December 19), it should be forced to drop the statement: "This does not guarantee a space." It is obviously already selling more permits than there are spaces.
Neville Street, for instance, has 41 houses, some with up to four residents, but there are only 30 parking spaces.
Stanley Street has 34 houses with similar residents, but only 18 parking spaces.
In addition to the permits the council also sells day visitors' permits.
I suggest residents of all areas of Respark now instruct the council that the scheme is no longer required and all areas revert to the previous chaos - which Respark is anyway.
