GRITTERS were out on roads across York and North Yorkshire today, preparing for the first Arctic blast of the winter.
Weathermen expect snow showers to sweep the east of the region tomorrow, with moderate falls expected on the coast and on the North York Moors and Wolds.
But no significant snowfall was expected in the York and Selby areas.
A PA weather spokesman said temperatures would reach 5C (41 F) today, but drop to zero (32F) tomorrow, with wind chill making it feel like -10C (14F)
But there will be no white Christmas. The thermometer is expected to hit 10C (50F) on December 25.
