YORK detectives investigating a brutal double murder in the city were expected to begin extradition proceedings today following the arrest of a 42-year-old man in Amsterdam, a spokesman said.

The man was arrested last week by Dutch police and is expected to be transferred to the UK for questioning in connection with the deaths of Kevin Mulgrew, 38, and Daniel Wall, 27, whose partially decomposed bodies were found in a bedsit in Gillygate on December 4.

Police have not confirmed whether the man being held is Paul Marshall, the missing tenant of the council-owned flat where the bodies were found.
