WE have no beach. As fast as the River Ouse flows, it fails to provide a single breaking wave. Nevertheless, York is one of the most popular places for British surfers.
These are not the bleached blond types spotted everywhere from Bondi to Bridlington, however. They are the rather paler variety who surf the web.
And Net-heads love York enough to make it one of the top destinations accessed via the MSN search engine.
Thousands of surfers have dipped a toe into virtual York, but can tourism chiefs tempt them to visit the real thing?
