A tireless York youth volunteer who has spent more than half of a century introducing youngsters to life on the water has been recognised by The Queen in her New Year Honours list.
Cecil "Tug" Wilson, who also celebrated his 81st birthday today, has been made an MBE for his work with York Sea Cadets. The former Evening Press deputy print room manager, from Fulford, said: "You never think you are going to be there all that time and to be honest I have never thought I would be rewarded."
