Pickering Town were turned over by two injury time goals after leading Northern Counties East League premier division rivals Goole for more than 60 minutes.

Centre-half Rob Eels fired Pickering ahead in the 28th minute, but Goole hit back in the dying seconds as substitute Kevin Smith and Danny Farthing found the net in the 92nd and 95th minutes to steal the win.

Pikes boss Steve Brown said: "We are disappointed because we had the chances to kill the game off at 1-0 but we haven't taken them.

"We defended very well for 90 minutes but they got two in the six minutes of injury time.

"I just feel as though we are making life difficult for ourselves."

The victory is the third in a row for Goole and leaves them just three points behind the Pikes.

Former Pickering manager Jimmy Reid, who is now joint boss at Goole with Paul Marshall, said: "They had chances to kill us off but Adam Mitchell made some outstanding saves to keep them out."

Manager John Reed suffered a double blow on Saturday with Harrogate Town's first defeat since November and the news that former league star Wayne Bullimore has decided not to sign.

Town went down 1-0 to visitors Lancaster City in the UniBond League premier division after a below-par display.

Mark Barnard and Robert Pell both went close for Town. Simon Sturdy and Glenn Naylor (twice) were denied by the City 'keeper.

Reed said: "It was extremely disappointing. If we are going to be trying to stay up there with Hucknall and Barrow, we have got to be beating teams like this."

Chris Hudson's man-of-the-match debut was one of the few highlights for Town.

Former Barnsley and Scunthorpe midfielder Bullimore was expected to sign on Saturday after impressing in a friendly against Darlington, but changed his mind after a refusal by Reed to guarantee him a place in the squad. He has signed for Bradford instead

Selby Town have gone top of the NCEL premier division table after their 4-1 win at Liversedge.

Previous leaders Brigg Town were held to a 1-1 draw by third placed Ossett Albion.

Liversedge took the lead through James Nestor on 20 minutes but a Tom Matthews equaliser five minutes later sparked Selby's revival as Joe Gaughan netted in the 31st and 90th minutes, with Steve Ward also getting in on the act.

Harrogate Railway moved up the table to 14th place after a 4-0 against Borrowash Victoria with two goals in each half from Ian Blackstone, Chris Howarth (2) and Lyle Hillier.

NCEL division one strugglers Tadcaster Albion lost 2-1 at Gedling. James Jepson put Gelding ahead seconds after kick off. Danny Pitts equalised after just after half an hour, but Rick Renshaw scored an 85th minute winner for Gedling.
