YOUNGSTERS at a York school are being trained in how to save lives with a £2,000 funding boost.
Manor School has been given £2,300 worth of funding from the charity Heartstart to provide the training.
Students will be trained in all aspects of life-saving, from using the telephone to cardio- pulmonary resuscitation and will receive a certificate for completing the course.
The training has been sponsored by the British Heart Foundation, which supplies all the material and equipment.
Andy Askham, PE teacher and first aid instructor at Manor, said the work was part of the citizenship curriculum.
He said pupils were learning skills which could lead to saving someone's life and were an important aspect of citizenship.
