YORK City Knights centre Damien Reid's switch to Barrow has now gone through, with the Knights receiving a minimal fee from the Raiders.
As revealed by the Press last week, the 19-year-old Scotland international had become unhappy with his first-team chances at Huntington Stadium, and his new move sees the Knights recuperate the nominal fee they paid Gateshead for him in the closed season.
Knights chief executive Steve Ferres said: "At the moment we're still on the lookout for players but we're happy with the squad we've got and there are no immediate plans to replace Damien."
Winger Chris Smith is to have a precautionary arthroscopy on his injured knee next week but the Knights are not anticipating a major problem. Indeed, Smith has reported big improvements since suffering the injury on Sunday, meaning he has an outside chance of playing against Featherstone in the Arriva Trains Cup this weekend.
