PROMISING York goal-getter Levent Yalcin has flown out to link up with the Turkish Under-20 team for an international against Ukraine.

The 18-year-old is expected to feature in the midweek game before returning to this country on Friday in time for Saturday's game against Yeovil Town.

City manager Chris Brass said: "Fingers crossed he will be all right and he will feature on the bench on Saturday.

"It's a good experience for him and they wanted him to go on previous occasions. I have been a bit reluctant for him to go before because I didn't want him to get injured after struggling for so long to get back but I think that now the time is right for him."

Former York schoolboy Pawel Abbott has signed for City's Third Division rivals HuddersfieldTown in a £100,000 deal after a successful loan spell from Preston.

Striker Abbott will be hoping to boost the Terriers' automatic promotion hopes with a victory over Rochdale tonight.

Third-bottom Rochdale will move two points behind City with a victory.

There are 10 other games in Division Three tonight and the Minstermen are certain to slip one place to 17th with Cambridge United taking on Boston United.

A draw for Southend and victory for Bristol Rovers would also lift both clubs above Chris Brass' men but they face tough fixtures.

Southend travel to play-off chasing Lincoln and Rovers entertain fifth-placed Torquay.
