Tesco at Clifton Moor in York today launched its self-service checkout.
Every shopper now has the chance to emulate the check-out people. You can swipe the barcodes yourself, ask yourself if you need any help with that, even talk to your neighbour about last night's Coronation Street.
Better still, shoppers can smuggle out all the embarrassing items unnoticed. Expect a run on Barry Manilow CDs and Preparation H.
