Cameron Diaz drinks it, so does Brooke Shields, and Pierce Brosnan has been known to enjoy a tipple of "exclusive" water, now on offer at the 90-bedroomed Monkbar Hotel in York.

To complement its award-winning wine list, the hotel has introduced its new Water List, splashing out on FIJI water, which it bills as "designer water to the stars, bringing a taste of paradise to York".

The Monkbar Water List has been created in response to the ever-increasing popularity of bottled water with health conscious guests. Following extensive research and taste tests with hotel staff, the finalised Water List has a wide range of bottled water from premium designer brands to everyday house water, including:

FIJI Water, actually from the island of Fiji, boasts "anti-ageing properties due to its unique mineral composition and purity," offering a taste that cannot be beaten

Pedras, Portugal's number one selling naturally sparkling mineral water

Gleneagles, sparkling or still

Monkbar Classic Crystal, sparkling or still, it is purified "using naturally occurring ceramic earths, coconut and anthracite carbon to create a great house taste".

James Wilkinson, Monkbar Hotel's food and beverage manager, said: "Just as we offer our guests a great choice of wine, we want to give them a great choice of water. We decided to create a water list in line with a wine list that would provide a range of bottled water to suit everyone's palate."

June Nelsey, hotel director, said: "We are the first outlet in the north to provide FIJI water, which is a real coup for the hotel.

"I for one will certainly be checking out its anti-ageing properties - I need all the help I can get!"

Gee! But what's the fee for FIJI? For a large bottle £3.94, for a small bottle £1.95.
