JAMIE Glover has a lot of friends. More than 200 people turned out to give blood on his behalf.

These samples will be analysed to see if a match can be found for Jamie, who needs a stem cell transplant to survive.

The officer from the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust was spot on in describing the turnout as fantastic. A response like this is an antidote to the selfishness in the stories described above.

It would be marvellous if one of the Appleton Roebuck volunteers turned out to be a match for Jamie. Whatever happens, another 200 people are on the trust's register, and only good can come from that.
