WHAT cheering news - Virgin boss Richard Branson has put his support behind York's efforts to secure the Flying Scotsman for the National Railway Museum.
The involvement of such an influential and wealthy figure can only be for the good. However, time is quickly running out because bids have to be in by Friday. It remains unclear exactly what Sir Richard has offered, although reports suggest he may be prepared to match the £350,000 already raised.
So fingers remain crossed as we steam towards this week's deadline.
