NEW Earswick All Blacks Under-14s reached the final of the Yorkshire Continuation Cup, defeating Kippax by 42-8.

All Blacks only led by six after a close first half but pulled away in the second half, aided by the strong running of Brian Wright, Jack Sinclair and Sam Waite.

An outstanding display by Pat Smith saw him bag a hat-trick, while other tries came from Ted Young (2), Wright (2), Jon Taal and Sean McArthur. Goals came from Young (2) and Sinclair.

The final, against East Leeds, will be played on May 9 at Feather-stone's Post Office Road ground.

Heworth U17s dispatched Churwell 23-0 but still made too many mistakes.

The visitors posed few threats, apart from their physical presence, and Heworth were always in command, although they failed to produce enough support rugby to regularly break a ponderous defence.

Liam Watling, Sam Johnson and Sean Holmes impressed, while tries came from Chris Varley (2), Watling and Andy Hall, Sean Coulson adding three goals and a drop goal.

Heworth U13s produced their best performance of their short existence despite losing 46-26 to Batley Boys.

There was a good structure to their play which allowed all the players to contribute. Heworth trailed 24-14 at the break and the second half was even until Batley scored two late tries.

John Richardson scored four tries with Gary Sissons scoring another and a goal. Joe Hudson and Callum Prenty added goals, while good games came from Liam Ryan, Dean Stoak, Robert Piercy and debutant Toby Lunn.

A below-par Heworth U9s lost 10-7 at Dewsbury Moor. Top player was Flannan Naismith, while Daniel Coulson was top tackler and Mathew Andrew was most improved. Scores came from Harry Deighton, Alex Clough, Billy Legg, Olly Murphy, Coulson and Naismith (2).
