FORMER York City player Kieran Darlow snatched a dramatic York FA Sunday Morning Senior Cup final victory for Marcia.

They seemed down and out against Wigginton Grasshoppers when they trailed 3-1 with 12 minutes remaining, but Darlow capped an amazing comeback when he converted a cross from another former Minsterman, Glenn Naylor, to seal a dramatic 4-3 victory.

Grasshoppers goalkeeper Ryan Stott produced a great save in the opening minute to deny Andrew Fenwick, but he had no chance after ten minutes when former Leeds United and Darlington player Mark Ford drilled in a 30-yard shot.

Within two minutes Grasshop-pers were level with a great individual goal from Tom Coates, who turned the Marcia defence inside out before scoring.

Wigginton took the lead with a cracking 40-yard shot by Jamie Seal, son of ex-City player Jimmy Seal.

Most of the early pressure in the second half came from Marcia but on the hour Grasshoppers made it 3-1 when Marcia 'keeper Scott Clapham spilled the ball to allow Graham Dominic to net from close range.

Grasshoppers pulled everybody back into defence and paid the penalty in the 78th minute when Darlow headed in from close range.

With two minutes left Ian Kettlewell netted Marcia's equaliser after goalkeeper Stott parried a shot. And worse followed for Wigginton in added-on time when Darlow swooped for the winner.

The presentation of the 1907 Yorkshire Evening Press Cup was made by Roy Ellwood, vice-president of the York FA.

Selby Olympia Reserves won the York FA Sunday Morning Junior Cup final by beating Boot and Slipper 3-1 in the final.

Olympia took the lead on the half-hour when Craig Anderson cracked the ball into the net giving Boot and Slipper 'keeper Robert Kunkel no chance.

The Selby side increased their lead when Steven Jeff scored with an unstoppable free-kick from 25 yards.

Five minutes into the second half Boot and Slipper reduced the arrears when poor defending by Olympia allowed a long-range header by Nick Palfreyman to find the net.

Olympia restored their two-goal advantage three minutes later when a shot from man-of-the-match Jeff took a cruel deflection to defeat Kunkel.

Boot and Slipper pushed forward and had at least three great chances to reduce the arrears but their finishing did not match their approach play.

Alan King, treasurer of the York City and District FA, made the presentations.
