I WRITE in response to the Alex Lloyd's review of Battle of the Bands semi-final (June 16).

More often than not, Evening Press concert or gig reviews read as if the reviewer did not attend the same venue as myself or even wanted to be there.

I was proudly supporting the band Sixty 6, who appear to be getting stereotypical write-ups from the Evening Press comparing them with the likes of boy-band Busted and barely receiving any due commendations.

Stating that the lads were all "suffering illness", "nothing new" or even "a big hit with the ladies" does not fairly convey to your readers a true reflection of the band and keeps more potential supporters away from the final.

Having seen them in action a few times now and speaking from an independent point of view, they are the most polished, unsigned mature sounding indie-rock band I have heard in some time. I compare them more with Snow Patrol than Busted.

Music industry personnel should get down to the final in two weeks' time and judge for themselves.
