I AM furious about the threatened closure of the works and pensions offices at Monks Cross. The building has only been up about two years and the Government is threatening to close it.

I know most of the people who work there and they are good, hard-working decent people who have a mortgage to pay.

I plead with the powers-that-be to think long and hard. It is not fair to take away the work of people who need a job. York is getting raw deal with Terry's chocolate factory too.

Spare the workers and let common sense prevail.
