He then partnered his dad Vic in a 25-dart 7-1 leg as Volunteer ran out 8-1 victors. Iain Smith was Crescent's only winner.

Bay Horse stayed top of the pile after defeating nearest rivals Howden. A 115 bull finish from Dave O'Hara sealed the win within the singles after good darts from Paul Cooper (18) and Rich Corner and Kev O'Hara with 21 darters. Cooper added a maximum as he partnered Kev O'Hara in a stunning 18-dart 701 leg.

Jim Wallis gamed in 16 darts as Phoenix beat Pack, who had good scores from Greg Robinson and Dick Willoughby to save the aggregate. Tony Raymond closed in 19 darts for Woodman who lost to a last game victory by Cygnet's Bob Greenwood-Steve Lane.

In division two, leaders Huntington 'B' had good darts from Pip Hair (22), Mark White (23) and Steve Cowley (23) to take the points at second-placed Woolpack, while 19 darts from Leeman's Dean Smallwood kept them in the promotion hunt.

A 20-darter from Nigel Mapplebeck inspired Three Cranes to an easy win at Mount 'A', while Mount 'B' lost by the same score at Reindeer whose Bob Rochester hit the tons.

Edinburgh Arms recorded a fine 8-1 win against Indoor Bowls, with Chris Moate hitting the tons.

Cooper and Thompson shine for Sun Inn

TONY Cooper produced a stunning 17-dart game in York John Smith's Men's League division one.

Chris Thompson supported with 18 darts, then the pair once again hit a quickfire 24-darter as Sun 'A' beat Cue Ball 7-2 whose Gary Scott also gamed in 18 darts.

Kelvyn Frankel (20) and 180s from Paul Keers and Rich Plummer helped to steer Crescent to a 7-2 victory at Cygnet 'A' who had John Mooring out in 20 darts.

Ray McInally (19) and Lee Brundrett (21) led Poacher to a 6-3 win over Dringhouses.

Martyn Turner (20) and match-winners Paul Innes-Paul Brandon helped Clifton 'A' to a 5-4 win at Golden Slipper.

Shepherd 'A' head the table after 20 darts from Mick Willsden earned then a 7-2 victory over Swan.

Phil Smith (180) enabled Kevin Richmond-Keith Dodd to take the decider for Slip against Britannia in division two. However wide margin wins from Tony Snowden and Daz Hoban-Paul Wilson saved the aggregate by one point.

Paul Calpin and Keith Allen led Flag 'A' to a 5-4 win at Holgate, who saved the extra point with a good win from Pete West-Joe Smith.

Mark Addinall, 89 bull finish, and Brian Harden paved the way for Rose & Crown to beat Institute 6-3.

Steve Simpson hit a 180 for 19 darts to help to rescue the aggregate for division three's Bootham Tavern as St Clements took the decider through Adrian Shaw-Danny Chapman.

Mike Percival-Nic Oldfield took the decider for leaders Shepherd 'B' at Groves, while Steve Rowath played well for Clifton 'C'. However, Colin Hodges-Kev Pallister took the points for Green Tree.

Division Two teams should note that Blacksmith's Arms have dropped out of the League. Rule B 22 applies.
