EVER thought that you have been at a different game to our York City reporter Dave Flett?
Well, the Evening Press and York jewellers Preston and Duckworth are inviting supporters to choose their own man of the match at City games this season, which may or may not tally with Dave's decision.
And, in so doing, fans will have an influence on which City favourite wins a Preston and Duckworth/Evening Press Player of the Month award, which will be introduced this season.
One lucky reader will also be given the opportunity to present a framed action photograph of the winning player on the Bootham Crescent pitch.
The fan and the winning player will both receive an Tissot watch and engraved box from Preston and Duckworth, who will also supply the winning player with a gift voucher.
In the event of the same player winning more than once he will be given an alternative to the watch.
Preston and Duckworth, of St Mary's Square, ran a player of the month competition chosen by City boss Chris Brass last season.
This season all we are asking fans to do is send their vote for man of the match for both Saturday and midweek games by e-mail to dave.flett@ycp.co.uk by noon on the following Friday. Votes can also be handed in at the Evening Press offices at 76-86 Walmgate, York YO1 9YN. Unfortunately, telephone votes are not permitted.
The players with the most votes will receive two points towards the race to be Preston and Duckworth/Evening Press Player of the Month.
Points given to the highest-rated three players from every match, decided by Dave Flett as part of the Evening Press Player of the Year competition, will also be taken into account.
