JONATHAN Marwood produced a good all-round performance for Hunters The Estate Agent York and District Senior League premier division leaders Easingwold but his side were frustrated when Sessay batted out for a draw.

He made exactly 50 in a second wicket stand of 118 with Martin Robinson, who fell seven runs short of a century. Paul Skilbeck clattered an unbeaten 47 off a mere 18 balls to lift his side to 228-4.

Aussie Mick Polson replied with 48 and Tom Kay made 26 but Marwood's 4-27 ensured the best of a draw for Easingwold.

Title-chasers Dunnington were also held to a draw when they were thwarted by Woodhouse Grange in a dress rehearsal for next Sunday's League Cup Final.

Dunnington had to thank Hamid Khan for their 166-8 as the opener continued in his rich run vein with an unbeaten 96. Paul Grewer was Grange's best bowler with 3-28. Collis King responded with 3-24 in nine overs but Pakistan 'A' team starlet Kamran Sajid made 70 to ease Grange to 137-8.

Acomb all-rounder Andy Tute had the division's best bowling figures of the day when his left arm seamers earned him 7-29 to destroy Pickering for only 66. Tute had earlier contributed 40 runs as Acomb gained full batting points with a score of 202-7. He was aided by Richard Sykes who made 37, Scott Nicholls 35 and Sanjaya Rodrigo 44. Sean Stuchbery's 29 was the only glimmer of light to shine through the Pickering gloom.

The bottom two sides were in opposition at Thirsk where a low scoring game saw visiting York gain a five-wicket victory which kept their survival hopes alive while virtually relegating the home side.

Thirsk's batting crumbled to a non-competitive 64 all out as Scott Gregory claimed 4-5 and Alex Boyle bagged 4-20. Thirsk skipper Barry Petty hit back with 4-30 but he was unable to defend the indefensible and a knock of 28 by Mike Mortimer saw York to a winning 65-5.

An unbeaten 84 by David Simpson helped Heworth to a convincing eight-wicket victory against fellow strugglers Beverley Town who are now in tenth place a mere four points ahead of York.

James Hodgson 40 was the only Beverley batsman to show form as Darius Slabbert took 4-53 in a 25-over spell and Mark Bell 3-50. Slabbert then made 29no in support of Simpson.

The only century in the division came from West Indian ace Lorenzo Ingram whose 101, together with 35 by Richard Musgrave, saw Clifton Alliance gain a six-wicket home win over Sheriff Hutton Bridge.

Paul Oldfield, Sheriff Hutton Bridge's skipper made 49 but the only other worthwhile contribution came from 39 extras as spinner John Hunter took 5-41 to restrict Bridge to 166-9.
