LONG-TIME division six leaders Selby suffered a five-wicket defeat at Civil Service and have seen their lead whittled away to 14 points.
Selby skipper Scott Smith hit 50 and Steve Cruise 33 in their total of 144-6 as Alex Livie took 3-21. Martin Lancelot then fronted Service's reply with 64
Martin Cannings set up a home victory for Dringhouses over Rowntrees when he marked his visit to York from his London base with an 8-37 return. He was denied all ten wickets when his father, Peter, took the final two wickets.
Martin Horwell, like Cannings senior, had responded to a Rowntrees plea to play because of a player shortage, and top scored with 30 to help Rowntrees recover from 43-5 to 89-6 before his side lost five wickets in nine balls to be all out for 90. Geoff Smith made 45 for Dringhouses, who won by five wickets.
Thorp Arch & Boston Spa chased down a Hemingbrough score of 177 all out to win by two wickets. Damian Sharp 45 and Nigel Briggs 29 made runs for Hemingbrough as Pat Bird and Andy Thomas each took 3-33.
John Orrell then played the big innings of the game, making 65 while Mark Warrilow added 39 to counteract Briggs' 3-19.
