NATIONAL specialist transportation study company, Sky High Traffic Data, of Tadcaster, has won a key contract to carry out traffic counts for Bexley Council

Sky High Traffic Data, which also has offices in London and Edinburgh, was selected from five tendering businesses for the exclusive, annual six-figure contract which covers a range of transportation surveys over the next two years.

The firm will use a combination of manual, video, automatic traffic counts (ATCs) and global positioning system (GPS) for its surveys. It will manage the contract, a direct arrangement with the local authority, with a team of up to 30 full and part-time staff.

The range of transportation surveys will cover junction turning counts, pedestrian flows, vehicle registration analysis to study car parking and journey times, and public transport usage.

Sky High Traffic Data, which has 45 full-time and more than 500 casual staff, works throughout the UK for a wide range of local authorities and civil and consulting engineers associated with large construction and highway development schemes.

Mark Mattison, Sky High's managing director, said: "We are delighted to have won this direct contract with Bexley Council. This transparent approach will help to improve communications and accelerate reaction times. We are looking forward to developing a long-term relationship."
