RICCALL and Selby have sealed the two promotion places in division three of the IT Sports Mixed Tennis League.

Riccall won their match against Sutton-on-Derwent to go up then Selby defeated Riccall with Lucy and Chris Godwin taking the vital points to ensure their promotion. However, the title is still up for grabs as Selby have two matches to play.

The relegation places in the division are to be decided after Carmel Parry and Peter Turner won 25 games to lead York fourths to a much needed victory against Civil Service. Bishopthorpe lost to Sherburn and look favourites for the drop as they still have title-chasing Selby to play.

The only division one match played during the week was between the two relegated sides, Poppleton and Civil Service, with Service duo Wendy Cook and Phil Sinton winning 28 games to top the scoring. They were well supported by Helen Leach and Andy Potter with Howard Pallister hitting the winning shot.

Jenny Rowland and Andrew Lowson kept Fulford on track for the division four title after their victory at Poppleton. Their meeting against rivals Copmanthorpe is likely to be the title decider as both teams have two matches to play.

Appleton Roebuck have displaced Stillington to move into third place after Chris Howat and Mike Hickman won 27 games for the victors.

Sutton-on-Derwent have ensured that their two remaining matches, both against rivals Cawood, will decide the title after they defeated Wigginton's second team. Pam Lochman and Luke Dove won 26 games and were matched by Sutton's Sally Simpson and Dave Nowell.

Eleanor Crooks and Daniel Bruce won 32 games for Fulford in their final match against Sutton-on-Derwent in division six to move into third place.

No promotion issues have been resolved in that division but New Earswick beat Poppleton by one game to move to the top spot. Riccall hold the key to all the remaining issues as they have two of the title contenders to meet and need to win both to save their divisional status.

Louise Wilkinson and Dave Fenton amassed 30 games for Wilberfoss in their win against Bishopthorpe to keep their division eight title hopes alive. Their fixtures against Nestl and Bubwith will decide who will be promoted.

Escrick have four matches to play in division nine to try to gain promotion after they lost to divisional winners Fulford, including Selby who have taken over second place with their win against Stillington. Jean White and Steve Parr were Selby's match-winners with 25 games, including a vital last round 10-2 win.

Stillington bounced back to win at Dunnington, led by Helena Tilley and Jim Downes. Wistow have to play their two relegation rivals, Dunnington and Stillington, to settle the outstanding relegation issues.

Next Generation have recorded a unique double with both their teams winning promotion and remaining unbeaten.

Next Generation completed their division ten matches with a win against Stamford Bridge, the team that will be promoted with them. Liz Hepworth and Damon Deamer winning 29 games.

Clubs are reminded that all matches must be played by August 31.
