Horwath Pulleyn-Heselton York Vale division four leaders Acomb put division three foes Thorpe Willoughby to the sword in the final of the Scothern Construction Cup at Heworth.
Batting first, Acomb started confidently with openers B Wallis and D Skilbeck putting on 33 for the first wicket before being bowled by D Watson.
Acomb struggled to get to grips with some tidy bowling from Thorpe, but in the last quarter Skilbeck took command and a splendid 78no lifted his side to a useful 169-8 from their 40 overs.
In reply, Thorpe were never at ease against a young bowling attack of A Carberry, D Copely and M Aldred, while excellent work in the field plotted the villagers' downfall. Only R Powell (19no) showed any resistance as the reply petered out at 86-9.
Ian Scothern, of sponsors Scothern Construction, is pictured far left presenting the trophy to Kevin Crawford, Acomb's captain. Scothern congratulated both teams on playing the game in such a good spirit.
