DESPITE the number of letters that have been printed about the traffic control of next year's "Ascot" meeting in York, I have yet to read one from the council which states this scheme will continue well after Ascot has been and gone.
It is all all well and good that Peter Evely gives his all in defence of what the council, and other bodies involved, have been doing to make sure everything runs smoothly, but they aim to please the big boys at the dizzy heights of racing and the Hoorah Henrys when they come to the city.
Peter Evely ought to write another letter saying "I promise that this traffic scheme will continue for many years after the Ascot meeting."
