THE LHf Healthplan National League received a boost this week with the announcement that a new series of the behind-the-scenes documentaries, Rugby League Raw, has been commissioned by Yorkshire Television.

The programmes take an alternative look at the game outside of Super League, with cameras getting right into the changing rooms before games and at half-time.

Supporters also get a good slice of the action and while the show is screened late on (due to sometimes colourful language), it is a welcome return to our screens.

Seeing as the series covers the play-offs, I genuinely hope the Knights won't be featuring but, if we do, I'm sure we have some potential TV stars in our midst. (I was going to say actors).

This forthcoming Sunday's game against the Rams will hopefully see the ladies flocking to Huntington Stadium as the club holds their first Ladies Day.

The boys think this is a fantastic idea - they've all spent more time in the gym this week, on the abs and tricep machines, and watch for the gelled haircuts.

Seriously, I think after the Family Fun Day for the Gateshead game in May, it is another great idea of attracting new faces to our games and hopefully benefiting the family atmosphere the club has been striving to create.

The lads will be helping development officer Jason Ramshaw promote the game at the Coppergate shopping centre and Parliament Street in York on Saturday.

So to all the ladies of York at a loose end on Sunday, grab your free ticket and get into the Knights atmosphere.

Amazingly, the Olympics kicked off with the building work in Athens apparently complete.

I have found myself watching obscure sports that I would usually change channel on, and have somehow managed to get engrossed in synchronised diving and dressage.

What has surprised me has been the lack of spectators.

These Olympics must surely rank alongside any sports fanatics' must-see events, and to watch world class footballers play to almost empty arenas seems somewhat surprising.

Talking of football, belatedly good luck to York City as they embark on their start to the Nationwide Conference season.

I know they didn't get the result on Saturday but from everyone at the Knights we wish you a successful season.
