Shoppers in Yorkshire are buying more locally-produced cakes, cheeses, pies, yoghurts and beers from their local Asda store with the help of the Regional Food Group for Yorkshire & Humber.
The supermarket has launched 50 new Yorkshire-sourced products in its 24 stores across the region, taking the total number of the region's products on sale to 160.
Deliciously Yorkshire, the brand identity for the regional food group, was integral in introducing the local suppliers to Asda's buyers at a "meet the buyer" event held earlier this year.
Asda's new Yorkshire's Best range hit the supermarket's shelves in March and the consumer response has been positive, with many local products now outselling their national brand equivalents. Locally-produced Just Puds, a homemade dessert is one of Asda's biggest sellers in Yorkshire.
