THE funeral yesterday of James and Joan Britton was an occasion of "particular poignancy" according to the vicar who conducted the service.

It was also a time of great grief for Catherine Wilkins and Anne Squires, the Britons' daughters, who have conducted themselves with dignity in the face of losing both of their parents.

The terrible sadness and sense of loss they feel has been reflected in both the local and the wider community.
