Watching, beaten on the nod by one of his new stablemates at York last week, has an outstanding chance of going one better at Goodwood tomorrow.

The seven-year-old, previously with David Nicholls, but now trained by Richard Fahey, goes for the £30,000 ladbrokes.com Handicap over six furlongs with Paul Hanagan in the saddle.

Last week on Knavesmire, Hanagan was aboard Fonthill Road, also trained by Fahey, who got up in the shadow of the post to beat Watching by a whisker in a head-bobbing finish.

That was only Watching's second start since he joined Fahey, and the gelding, very well handicapped on his best form of a couple of seasons ago, looks a horse to follow.

Hopefully, the remainder of the field will be following him tomorrow down the Goodwood hill. He is awarded the nap vote.

The Racing Post Rated Handicap offers Cape Vincent the opportunity to make it two out of two for the season.

John Gosden's highly-rated colt scores on his reappearance at Salisbury earlier this month, beating Patterdale by an impressive four lengths. He looks a useful horse in the making and he can follow up on this, his handicap debut.

In the P.P.S. (Softwoods) Classified Stakes Savile's Delight is selected to come out on top over his five rivals.

David Nolan's mount has been in fine form this summer and will be hard to beat over the sharp seven-furlongs trip.

Jack Of Trumps is fancied to prove the ace in the pack in the opening Coors Fine Light Beer Handicap over a mile and a half.

The four-year-old has found a rich vein of form lately and gained his second win off the belt when beating Rajam in a tight finish on Knavesmire last month. Geoff Wragg's colt has more to offer and Francis Norton again has the mount.

At Thirsk, Bryan Smart, based at nearby Hambleton, can land the European Breeders Fund Maiden Stakes with the promising Stretford End.

A highly-rated juvenile, Stretford End had an unfortunate start to his career when falling at Ayr after swerving into the rails.

Thankfully, there was no lasting damage from that incident and Stretford End reappeared at Newcastle, where he ran a cracking race to be narrowly beaten by a rival who was racing on the opposite side of the course.

Overdue a change of luck, the promising Stretford End can make it third-time-lucky under Fergal Lynch.

Dawn Surprise, winner of two races already this season, can make it three in the £14,000 Bridlington Classified Stakes, the richest race on the card. The three-year-old represents Saeed Bin Suroor and will be ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, Frankie Dettori's talented Australian understudy.
