The rumble of drums, like the start of a thunderstorm, at the opening of You're So Vain is one of the great music intros.
The song, of course, is a classic. And Nobody Does It Better than Carly Simon. The singer-songwriter with her trademark husky and soulful voice and talent for turning her life and love stories into great tracks is before us here featuring 20 songs: the greatest hits.
In it, she rides an emotional rollercoaster from heartbreak (You're So Vain) to contemplation (That's The Way I've Always Heard It Should Be), to confusion (Why) as well as the fun (Mockingbird).
With a career spanning four decades, there is plenty of material from which to choose, although this CD focuses on her single releases, so it really is her greatest hits. Other tracks include You Belong To Me, The Right Thing To Do, Coming Round Again and, of course, her aptly-titled James Bond theme.
