Mr and Mrs Denton are heroes for suggesting they would like a skateboard area opposite their house in New Lane, Holgate (Letters, August 19).
Maybe they would also like the basketball area which was built on the Acomb Road side of Westbank Park by the last Labour council in 1996?
Because of no supervision at that end of the park it has become a magnet for alcohol and drug abusers and yobbish behaviour.
The two bowling greens, which are only in use for maybe ten weeks of the year, demonstrate a total mismanagement of available resources and would be a good site for the facilities and offer some element of supervision because it is in front of the park keeper's office.
