The closure of our local post office is bad news.
The loss of this useful service to local people will be enormous. The nearest post office to Plantation Drive will now be a mile away, which is a real hardship to regular customers.
Many are pensioners or parents with young children.
Our sub-postmaster Philip Bushell could not be more helpful and nothing is too much trouble for him.
It is very short-sighted to close this post office with a new, large development of houses on the old Donnelly site likely to increase the potential for more customers.
I do not hold much hope of a reversal of this decision, but I do think the Royal Mail should consider its customers.
