Richard Fahey, who sent out his 50th winner of the Flat season at Ripon yesterday, can maintain his purple patch tomorrow.

Breaking Shadow's victory in the Steve Nesbitt Challenge Trophy equalled Fahey's previous best total, achieved last year.

Fahey had to close his stables for about a month in April due to an outbreak of equine herpes, but he has certainly made up for lost time. He sent out 23 winners in August alone.

"I'd be happy with half that in September, but we'll try to get another 23," he said. "We've been getting a bit of luck. We won three photo-finishes the other day."

Tagula Sunrise, who heads to Redcar tomorrow, has yet to add to her name to the stable's scoresheet but the two-year-old had a golden opportunity in the Cockle Maiden Auction Stakes.

A speedy filly, who was narrowly beaten in the Hilary Needler Trophy at Beverley in June, Tagula Sunrise has had several near-misses, not least when she finished third at Newcastle on her latest start.

That race was over six furlongs and the swich back to the minimum trip tomorrow will undoubtedly suit her better. I expect Tagula Sunrise to make a bold bid in the hands of Paul Hanagan.

Trojan Flight should not be overlooked in the Albert Clamp Memorial Handicap over six furlongs.

Lynda Ramsden's gelding looked an unlucky loser at Ripon on Monday, when failing to get a clear run before going down in a photo-finish. He was a hot favourite for that race and punters will be seeking to recover losses tomorrow.

Nap selection Hartshead will be hard to beat in the Lobster Classified Stakes.

Alan Swinbank's charge has won three of his last four starts and is progressing well as he matures. There is every chance that he can further add to his tally before the season is out and this modest event looks well within his grasp.

Sir Mark Prescott has his string in flying form and the Newmarket trainer, on the mark in the last race at Ripon yesterday, can follow-up with Optimal in the concluding Mussel Handicap tomorrow. Seb Sanders takes the mount on this recent winner, who could still be a step ahead of the handicapper.

Fahey also has winning chances at Carlisle, not least with Turn Of Phrase in the Battle Holme Handicap.

The five-year-old, a winning hurdler, ran a fine race at Musselburgh last week to finish second to Red Forest. A reproduction of that form in this low-grade handicap would probably be enough to enable him to go one better.
