NEWLY-PROMOTED Thorpe United provided the major shock in the opening York John Smith's Football League games of the season.
They won 6-3 at champions Severus SC after trailing to a Woodward goal.
By half-time Thorpe were in front with two goals from Clamp, who went on to complete his hat-trick in the second period.
Ducey pulled one back before Wood restored the visitors' two-goal advantage. Woodward bagged his second to reduce the arrears once again before Garner and then Clamp with his fourth secured Thorpe's great win.
Blacksmiths Arms led 2-0 through Whelan and Newton against Ainsty Panthers, who struck back with goals by Jones and Midgeley to day.
Nine-man Wigginton Grasshoppers took the lead against eight-man Volunteer Arms through Roberts.
But by half-time Volunteers piled up a 7-1 advantage. The teams came close to fielding a full side at times but injuries during the game meant numbers on both sides fluctuated before Volunteer won 12-6, Kevin Jackson bagging a double hat-trick.
Nestl Rowntree led through Watson at Derwent United but goals from Bradshaw, Cooke and Oxendale gave the home side a 3-2 win, Watson getting the other Nestl goal.
Hounds defeated Selby Olympia WMC 3-0 with Jackson, Cygan and Clayton all scoring in the first 20 minutes.
Marcia showed they will be a force this season with a 7-1 win at Pocklington, Kettlewell and Green both netting twice.
James Cook scored twice as The Plough started their campaign with a 7-1 win over Beeswing in division three.
Matthew Simpson also got two as Fulford beat Copmanthorpe 5-0.
A hat-trick from Broadbent helped Bishopthorpe to a 5-2 win over The Five Lions. Hambleton started with a 4-1 win at Real Way Station with goals from Abell (3) and Croad.
Paul Hughes scored twice for Barlby but two goals from Watkinson and a strike from Bruce gave Shoulder of Mutton a 3-2 win. Inland Revenue also won 3-2 thanks to efforts by Ellis, Burn and David Lund. Sullivan and Harvey netted for Heworth.
Skelton opened their division four campaign with a 4-3 win over Acomb Celtic, who led with a couple of Ian Hufton goals. Skelton then hit a five-minute purple patch to lead through Neal Holmes, Coates and Pipe.
Although Hufton completed his hat-trick and Skelton keeper Birkley made two great saves, Holmes grabbed the winner.
Albion Vaults fell behind to Castle Howard Ox but rallied to win 5-2 with Darren Phillips netting twice.
A 25-yard drive by John Sebine set up Bay Horse (Tadcaster) for a 4-1 win over Gypsy Moth. Wilberfoss beat Black Swan 2-0 with goals from Newby and an own goal.
Adams hit a hat-trick as Rumours came from 3-0 down to win 4-3 at F1 Racing. Goals by Nicholson and Bell earned Enterprise a 2-0 win at Selby Olympia Reserves.
Relegated Thomas's Hotel showed they aim to bounce straight back from division six with a 6-1 drubbing of Wanderers with two goals each for Henry Smith, Steve Smith and Paul Gibb. Cronian netted Wanderers' consolation.
Hussain scored a treble in Quaker Wood's 6-0 thumping of Selby Griffin.
Paul Floyd gave Raskelf a first minute lead at home to Edinburgh Arms. Joe Vaughan equalised and ten minutes from time Metcalfe restored Raskelf's lead. A bad fumble by the Arms keeper allowed Raskelf a third to seal the game.
Goals from Atkins and Whitley secured a 2-1 win for new boys Fulford Reserves at Pocklington Rangers, whose goal came from Pearson.
Martin Hird scored two as Firkin 103 won 5-1 at Holgate WMC and Wrights Sports Bar won 2-1 at Cawood.
