Skelton artist Diane Thornton's second solo show at the Blake Gallery, York, opens on September 11. Colour Of Love 2 celebrates the beauty of York, Yorkshire, the East Coast and the North York Moors, painted in mixed media.
"I use pastel, acrylics and mixed media for the exciting combination of texture and unexpected mingling of colour that can result," says Diane. "Usually I like to go straight in with the colour, often painting the same subjects again and again, each time searching for the splash of colour and light that attracted me to the subject."
Diane studied art and ceramics in York and Harrogate and works from her home studio in Skelton, where she must be trying to catch her tail at present.
"I'm also displaying work at The Look Gallery in Helmsley, the Toll Bar Gallery in Skelton and Ripon Art Festival at Ripon Cathedral at the same time," she says.
The Love Of Colour 2 will run at the Blake Gallery, Blake Street, from tomorrow until September 26. Diane's work also can be seen on her website, www.artgal.net
