Hemingbrough, who won division three in their first season in Hunters the estate agent York and District Senior Cricket League league last year, added the division two crown when they totally outplayed Bridlington.

Simon Cox took 7-34 as Bridlington were dismissed for 166, Barry Rudd scoring 43 and Richard Lount 40.

Imran Malik then made a rapid 51 before he was dismissed, but Nathan Briggs (49no) then combined with Maqsood Akbar (58no), who passed the 1,000 run mark two weeks ago, to take Hemingbrough to a nine-wicket win.

Stamford Bridge's hopes of snatching the divisional honours by gaining two more points than Hemingbrough were dashed when they were restricted to 24 points by Harrogate being unable to field a team.

The game at Hovingham was finely tuned when rain caused abandonment after 38 overs the second innings.

Stuart Prest (55) was Hovingham's top scorer, while Richie Brown (45) and Tom Banks (28no) helped the hosts reach 204-7 despite the efforts of Paul Horner (3-71) and Richard Tuite (4-59).

When Rowntree replied Dave Whittle reached a personal best of 80 not out before rain ended play with the reply on 177-3.

Ian Bews hit his first half century of the season when he made 58 as Dringhouses batted first at Crayke.

Dringhouses countered the threat posed by Mark Hutchinson (4-71) and Richard Wentworth (3-51) to make a respectable 188-9.

Bews then took 4-47 as Crayke collapsed to 67-5 before Paul Hutchinson (37), Andy Dawson (48) and skipper John Wright (58) almost pulled off a fine victory in a tense finish which saw Crayke close on 186-9.
