I WRITE in response to the less-than-positive letters by Messrs Farnsworth and Smith on the proposals for Haxby station (September 8 and 13).
As a supporter of the scheme, I called at York planning office to see what had changed and by how much.
After 30 minutes with the planner, and having gone over the plans and proposals, I found that, basically, they are no different to the ones agreed by Haxby Town Council and Haxby people in general about three years ago. So what are these two gents on about? I could not see any drastic changes or strategic change to have a station at Haxby. Surely it is better to take traffic off the roads.
Let's start with Haxby and build on that.
I have lived here nearly 50 years so do not give me the traffic scaremongering line.
The good news is, a scheme could be funded and sorted in late October by a private firm with experience of such schemes in the UK. Can Mr Farnsworth and Mr Smith, help get cars off our roads and be positive?
R S Pearson,
Towthorpe Road,
Haxby,
York.
