RUGBY Union sides from the York area are in Powergen Intermediate Cup and Vase action tomorrow.

Malton & Norton, who have won their opening two North East One fixtures, welcome Leodiensians to The Gannock.

The only changes from last week's starting line up see Liam Cowton and Alan Aitken take over from Rob Chidley and George Mosey in the centre berths. Chidley is recuperating after surgery and Mosey is attending freshers' weekend at Manchester University.

Leos were last year's winners of the Powergen Vase and currently operate in Yorkshire Two.

With full back Chris McDonald, prop Martin Allchurch, No 8 Mathew Mills and flanker Ben Marshall all unavailable, Selby are forced into making changes for the home tie against Huddersfield YMCA.

Toby Pemberton makes his first start of the season at full back with Paul Gabel back at prop.

Kevin Lowery is preferred at No 8 with Paul Randell reclaiming his flanker position. John Kaye comes onto the bench as prop replacement, Dave Christison comes back into the squad on the bench with the third substitute being back replacement Andy Bennett making his first appearance of the season.

Having already lost 36-8 to YMCA in their opening Yorkshire One match a fortnight ago, Selby will need a big improvement to gain revenge.

Pocklington entertain West Leeds at Percy Road in the first round of the Junior Vase.

Pocklington again have both first and second teams at home together - the Panthers are against Bridlington - and name a squad of 37 from which they will make their final selection.

There are, however, half a dozen players missing from last week's victory over Ripon, including injured captain Matt Atkinson, and Wales Student's cap, Sam Rees. Luckily, Pocklington have experienced players back to fill their shoes - Scott Littlefair is hoping to return and prove his fitness in the back row, while at scrum half, Chris Watkins, who played for Pocklington in the North East leagues five years ago, has rejoined from Hull.

York RI head to the coast to take on Scarborough, who play in Yorkshire Two, one league above the New Lane outfit.

Scarborough beat Old Brods 39-0 last week so will obviously be a tough test but RI will welcome back prop Paul Reed and experienced centre Tim Nash after unavailablity.

Harrogate entertain Stourbridge at Claro Road in National Two keen to build on last week's win at Nuneaton.
