DESPITE losing his York City place to David Stockdale, Chris Porter bears no grudge towards the teenager.

Instead, he is gushing in his praise and congratulations after hearing about this week's call up to the England National Game XI squad.

He said: "I have never seen anybody take a chance like he has. He's flying and, for his sake, I hope he can keep doing it.

"For my sake, I hope I can get my chance soon somewhere but I wish him all the best and he's done really well to get the English non-League call-up. He has not surprised me with how well he's done.

"I train with him day in, day out and he has always made fantastic saves and, for a big man, he gets his frame in the way. I'm really, really, really over the moon for him because he's a really nice lad and there's no bad feelings whatsoever."

The 25-year-old Porter has not played a competitive game since August 31 said: "It's been horrible not to play since then but you have to get on with decisions because you can't change them.

"I think not playing is harder for a 'keeper because as an outfield player you can play for ten minutes and get the odd game here and there so you feel more a part of things but you can't change 'keeper for the last ten minutes.

"It can be really disappointing at the end of games. You are buzzing if the lads have got a result but you sit down and think 'I wish I was out there as well'."
