YORK City goalkeeper Chris Porter has asked manager Chris Brass for a loan move after losing his place to teenage stopper David Stockdale.

Porter replaced Paul Crichton in goal for the home game with Accrington Stanley at the end of August after the former Grimsby and Norwich 'keeper was told his services were no longer needed at Bootham Crescent following an argument with City supporters.

But Porter's return to number one status lasted just 20 minutes when he was controversially sent off for a professional foul and Stockdale, having excelled against Accrington, has played the last ten matches, leaving his more senior team-mate on the bench.

Former Darlington 'keeper Porter said: "Stocky has come in and done exceptionally well so I can't really complain about not getting back in the team but I am not getting any games and that's really frustrating. I'm training through the week but not playing either during the week or at the weekend.

"I'm dying for a game having not played since being sent off and I'm at the situation now where I have asked the manager whether I can get out on loan to get some games. I think he will let me go if we can get a 24-hour recall but I don't want to go to a Dog and Duck team, no disrespect.

"I want to be in the league we are in or higher and get a game."

Football League and Conference rules do not allow outfield players to be recalled in the first 28 days of any loan spell.

But goalkeepers are not subject to the rule if the right to a 24-hour recall is insisted upon by the parent club so a temporary switch for Porter would only leave Brass without experienced cover for part of one match in the worst case scenario if Stockdale was injured or sent off.

Porter, who has now played second fiddle to Mark Ovendale, Crichton and Stockdale at Bootham Crescent, has suffered more than any other player because of the lack of a reserve game in the last five weeks. It has left him without any kind of competitive game since his red card against Accrington.

City reserves will return to action after a six-week lay-off next Wednesday.

The postponed away match at Lincoln City has been re-arranged and will kick off at 2pm.
