Talk about a tip in itself - back The Reverend tomorrow on a Sunday.

Trained by Howard Johnson, my Nap selection The Reverend is set to make his debut on British soil at Carlisle in the second division of the novices' hurdle and is strongly fancied to make a winning start in the hands of Graham Lee.

Previously based in Ireland, the four-year-old won a point-to-point last season at Lismore and was considered by some to be the best horse seen at that venue since a certain Best Mate won a race there to launch his dazzling career.

Sue Smith, who saddled two winners at Wetherby yesterday, has excellent prospects of more success tomorrow.

The Bingley trainer can complete a treble with Simply Supreme, Flake and Tipsy Mouse, the laast of those going for the £40,000 Coors Brewers' Cumberland Handicap Chase over three-and-a-quarter miles.

A progressive stayer last season, who wound up by winning a good handicap at Kelso, Tipsy Mouse has Grand National pretensions this term and looks sure to give a good account of himself here on his return to action. His stablemate Ardent Scout, also in the field, has a fighting chance though, as a 12-year-old, in the twilight of his career.

Simply Supreme is the class act in the North West Racing Club Intermediate Chase over two-and-a-half miles.

Although he was a first-fence faller in the Scottish Grand National, in which he started favourite, when he was last seen in April, Simply Supreme had previously won a Grade 1 race at Aintree.

An exciting prospect, he should have too much class for his rivals tomorrow.

Flake has been running well over longer distances to suggest he can make his presence felt and is dropped back in trip in the Carlisle Glass Handicap Hurdle.

Len Lungo's Word Gets Around looks the most likely victor in the Azure Novices' Handicap Chase, while Hallrule, an improved campaigner last season, should be short-listed for the Viacom Amateur Riders' Handicap Hurdle.

At Huntingdon, fingers are crossed that Thyne For Intersky lands the opening novices' hurdle in the hands of Elliott Cooper.

The young rider has only just returned to the saddle after sustaining severe facial injuries in a dreadful fall at the Cheltenham Festival in March. It would be a big stepping-stone for him to get back into the winning groove aboard this useful five-year-old, trained by Cooper's boss, Jonjo O'Neill.
