Selby clawed back from 18-3 down early in the second half to snatch an 18-18 draw in their Yorkshire One match at Ilkley with an unconverted try in the first minute of added time.

Winger Rich Topping crashed over in the corner to level the scores.

Selby were behind to a Simon Smith penalty after only three minutes when caught offside in front of their posts.

In the 12th minute, second-row forward Mathew Mills was yellow carded for a high tackle and Smith kicked Ilkley's penalty.

Six minutes later, a missed tackle in the corner allowed Smith to touch down but he missed the conversion.

In the 40th minute, Ilkley were caught offside and Dan Porter kicked the penalty to leave Selby 11-3 down at the interval.

Selby made two changes for the second half, with Martin Protheroe and Ben Marshall replacing Simon Hall and Mark Rollinson respectively, but things failed to improve.

Ilkley increased their lead after 47 minutes when winger Stuart Vincent went over in the corner, Smith converting.

Selby at last began to gel and reduced their arrears. A rolling maul took them 15 metres and deep into Ilkley territory.

The ball was released to stand-off Toby Pemberton, who dummied before releasing to Protheroe on the burst and he sped through to touch down under the posts. Porter kicked the conversion.

With Ian Copperwheat replacing Paul Gabel in the 73th minute, Selby's pressure was rewarded when Ilkley were penalised for failing to release the ball. Porter kicked the penalty.

It was all Selby in the closing minutes and their determination paid off with Topping crashing over in the corner in the first minute of added time.

Porter's conversion attempt sailed narrowly wide.
