IT is very frustrating to find City of York Council is again planning to increase parking charges in several short-stay car parks (December 21).

They say if they increase these charges the council tax will not increase ten per cent, but only five per cent. Don't they think we pay enough?

Some people couldn't afford to pay more because they do not get increases in wages every time the council increases council tax.

Why can't the council manage the money it receives instead of increasing parking charges? Other councils seem to manage.

Our council does too much for tourists and not enough for York residents. Most people who put money back into the community are the people who live in York, not the tourists, but yet we get stung for more costs yet again.

The council should sell off some of its properties if it has a money problem.
