SINCE taking over York City FC two years ago, the Supporters' Trust directors have parted company with team managers Terry Dolan, Chris Brass (his assistant Lee Nogan) and Viv Busby.

Traditionally, managers always carry the can for poor results on the field. What a pity club directors hardly ever pay a similar price.

The York board's priorities seem to be their club's finances, ground ownership, and new eventual stadium.

However, the bottom-line in professional football is on-field success. All stand or fall by results - be it Arsenal or Aldershot, Chelsea or Cheltenham, Manchester United or Macclesfield Town. The Minstermen board needs to re-assess its priorities.

York City are bigger than most clubs in their league, and sounder financially than virtually all other Conference teams.

While ever clubs at Crewe, Gillingham, Rotherham and Wigan are playing three divisions further up the scale, and even Chesterfield, Colchester and Hartlepool are two levels higher, then York City are not deserving of sympathy.
