WE would like to thank all of the 563 parents, teachers and members of the public who signed our petition for a safe crossing point on Heslington Lane for children and their parents and carers.

This petition has now been submitted to City of York Council asking for action along this road.

Our children need and deserve an official and recognisable safe crossing point along this road. Children should not have to "take a gamble" in their young minds whether a driver is slowing for them to cross the road, or slowing for a speed table.

This confusion has caused three near misses in one year.

This site will hopefully be reviewed by the council from April onwards, and I feel it is important that council officers are made aware of any incidents involving motorists and children, especially near to the speed table outside St Oswald's School.

If any more incidents are witnessed along Heslington Lane involving a danger to children's safety please contact me on 01904 633578 or through the Fulford parish council.

Fulford,

York.
