Malton Bacon Factory's hopes of finishing higher than last season's third place in the premier division of Leeper Hare York and District League are still alive after their 2-0 win at Haxby.

It was an identical scoreline to the earlier clash this season between the two sides.

Ben Wheeler put the Malton side in front on ten minutes and the win was sealed, just as he did in the previous encounter, by Dave Bradshaw with his 14th goal of the season.

Thorpe United, playing their final away game of the season at Old Malton, went in at the interval one goal in front and controversially doubled their lead with 15 minues left.

The heated arguments after this goal led to the dismissal of an Old Malton player, but two goals from Heath Brown in the final seven minutes salvaged a point for ten-man Old Malton.

For the second time this season Wiggington Grasshoppers beat Pocklington 3-0 and they have now gone three games without conceding a goal.

Pocklington's young side battled hard before Luke Roberts broke the deadlock early in the second half and substitute John Beech added a second before Ben Coates, with his 11th goal of the season, completed the scoring.
