IN common with many other people, I have experienced hypocrisy for years but post office bosses have taken it to new levels.

Almost daily they bombard us with propaganda on the excellent services they provide yet recently they closed seven urban post offices in the York area.

Then, without warning, they sealed off one letter box in Bishopthorpe Road, and completely removed another, near former Fishergate Post Office, leaving even the Royal Mail collection driver wondering where it had gone.

People now have to travel long distances if they need the post office services.

It is obvious that serving the public is way down their list of priorities because they strive for cost effectiveness and whopping big salaries for the "fat-cats" running (or is it ruining?) the service.

What used to be an excellent, efficient service is now sub-standard and deteriorating.

The post office, in common with health and education services, is overloaded with bureaucrats and pen-pushers who have no real conception of, or interest in, the needs of the public they purport to serve.
