IN reply to June Nelsey's letter to stop moaning about Ascot,
my question to her would be: will York have a new swimming pool, running track, extra funding for youth and senior citizens facilities?
Or will, perhaps, a few of the pot-holes on my estate be filled in? Will the litter I pass each morning along the Knavesmire cycle track be cleaned up? The new fence and gates along Knavesmire look nice but don't improve my life.
Tens of thousands have already been spent preparing for Ascot week. Millions will be spent - won and lost - the same week. When we channel efforts towards improving facilities for York people I'll stop moaning.
